Why We’re Transitioning from Permanent Makeup to Cosmetic Tattooing

Cosmetic Tattooing, most commonly known as Permanent Makeup, Micropigmentation, Microblading is gaining momentum nationwide and is swiftly becoming one of the fastest-growing segments in the beauty industry. As this industry continues to evolve, we at The Beauty Artist have made a strategic decision to update our terminology, shifting from Permanent Makeup to Cosmetic Tattooing.

Why the switch to “Cosmetic Tattooing” over “Permanent Makeup”?

As we’ve mentioned before, this industry is constantly evolving. “Makeup” no longer accurately reflects the full scope of services we provide. Cosmetic tattoo artists now offer a range of treatments, from scalp pigmentation for hair loss to scar camouflage for various types of scars, addressing a wide array of concerns. Identifying solely as “makeup” artists no longer accurately represents our expertise.

Additionally, the term “makeup” can be limiting for both artists and clients. Our goal is to enhance natural beauty, which goes beyond traditional makeup application. Not all clients seek a makeup-centric look; or wear makeup at all! Many are interested in subtle enhancements or alterations to their natural features through cosmetic tattooing. By embracing the term “Cosmetic Tattooing,” we aim to be more inclusive in our approach and provide access to our services without conforming to stereotypes.

Let’s embrace this change together!
